Cheapest seats for Dodgers-Astros World Series opener close to $1,000

At age 9, Chase Utley attended the last World Series game the Los Angeles Dodgers won here.

Plenty has changed since Game 2 of the 1988 World Series, including an online ticket marketplace where the cheapest seats for Tuesday’s opener have edged toward $1,000.

Utley, 38, a Long Beach native and former UCLA player, said he’s received about 100 texts since the Dodgers clinched the team’s first World Series berth in 29 years on Thursday.

“I’ve gotten a lot of ticket requests, but, unfortunately, I can’t make everyone happy,” Utley said.

That leaves Utley’s friends Custom New England Patriots Jerseys -- and thousands of others looking to get into Dodger Stadium as the series opens against the Houston Astros -- looking toward the secondary ticket market.

The average resale price tracked by SeatGeek was about $1,300 as of Tuesday morning, which is about where prices stood as the Cleveland Indians opened the 2016 World Series. There were more than 3,000 seats available for purchase on StubHub (with fees), with the cheapest around $850. The most expensive seat (minus fees) was priced at $13,000.

There are a couple of factors working in fans’ favor ahead of the 5 p.m. local time start of the series: The Dodgers have the biggest home stadium in the majors with a capacity of around 55,000, and the Astros aren’t the draw the New York Yankees would have been.

that prices for Games 1-2 dropped by about 10% after the Astros dispatched the Yankees in Game 7 of the ALCS on Saturday.

Dodgers fans are also more accustomed to using secondary ticket sites. Custom Golden State Warriors Jerseys Ticket reseller Ticket IQ estimated the Dodgers had the most active secondary market ($74.3 million) among all MLB teams Custom Boston Bruins Jerseys this season.

The Dodgers and Astros both receive an allotment of tickets for each World Series game. Like Utley, teammate and fellow Southern California native Austin Barnes said his tickets went fast.

“Obviously being from this area is great, but with that come a lot of requests,” said Barnes, who grew up in Riverside. “I have to bring my family: Two brothers, a sister and my mom and dad. Luckily, they take all the tickets. That’s how we handle it.”
